Imagine yourself as a little kid, driving with your family for that long drive and finally making the turn down the gravel road to Grandma’s farmhouse.  You can already smell the apple pie, wafting it’s sweetness from the oven, and the smoke from the chimney invites you in from the icy cold snow. There’s always a sense of nostalgia and excitement for me every time I reminisce about the holidays.  Whether you have a similar story or something completely different, the holidays represent “Hope.”  Thinking about them usually puts a smile on my face and I can’t help but feeling like a kid again as we prepare for the events to come.

In this collection of acrylic paintings I wanted you to create some timeless pieces that you could have on display all year round, or just put out for the holiday season. You will create four different paintings, each with their own unique style and colors. The techniques you’ll learn can be translated into other paintings and you’ll find that most of the colors go well with any decor.  My hope is that as you paint them you’ll be filled with fond memories of the past or maybe imagining a brighter future of new traditions and lots of love.  Remember to give yourself a lot of grace as you are learning some new techniques and don’t forget that if you mess up, you can always paint over it.  I promise you’ll have some really fabulous paintings when we get done and I’ll be teaching you step by step along the way!  Let’s get started!
