Peppy Pig
In this course you will learn how to paint a sweet peppy little pig in a whimsical way and learn some techniques on using a combination of brighter colors. The techniques you’ll learn can be translated into other paintings.
As a kid, I use to hang out with the “Goat Lady”aka Jackie our neighbor, who happened to have a hobby farm full of goats, cows, horses, chickens, and dogs. I spent hours helping her out on her little farm and even learned how to milk goats and deliver babies. Some of my fondest memories were hanging out with Jackie and with some of my favorite farm friends, the animals. Farm animals are so fun to paint especially if you use non-traditional colors. Animals have personalities and painting them in unusual poses or close ups of their faces captures a little bit of that. Maybe it’s a little nostalgic for me as I think of the good old days where I’d throw on my cowboy boots, my goat coat (yes, I had a designated coat for the goats because it would stink so bad), and head on down the hill to Jackie’s farm. Possibly there’s a fondness in your memories of a place or time where you enjoyed the company of some farm animals, or maybe you just appreciate animals and colors and are drawn to this combination. I can assure you that these paintings will make you smile and bring a little farm joy to anyone who experiences them.
In this peppy pig acrylic painting I wanted you to learn how to paint farm animals in a whimsical way as well as learn some techniques on using a combination of brighter colors. The idea of painting a blue cow or pink/purple donkey is silly and yet sophisticated all at once. The techniques you’ll learn in this class can be translated into other paintings. My hope is that as you paint, you’ll connect with some positive memories or maybe of future hopes and dreams of farm life. Remember to give yourself a lot of grace as you are learning some new techniques and don’t forget that if you mess up, you can always paint over it. I promise you’ll have a really fabulous painting when we are done and I’ll have my cowboy boots, and my “goat coat” on to get a little messy alongside you. Let’s get started!
